2. Q: What is eBay Sniper?
A: eBay Sniper is a program which helps you to bid on eBay auctions such a way so you can get an item you need at the lowest possible bid. This is achieved by placing your bid at last seconds before auction ends and utilizing eBay's proxy bidding system.
3. Q: What is Auction Number
A: Auction Number (also known as "Item Number" or "Auction Id") is the unique number of auction. It's usually located on the right top side of each auction page next to the title of auction.
4. Q: Is sniping legal?
A: Technically speaking, yes, sniping is legal and permitted. Although there are people who against snipers and people who adore snipers. But this is rather a personal opinion of each person.
5. Q: What kind of snipers exist?
A: There are generally two kinds of snipers: - Software-based snipers
- Server-based snipers
Each of the types has its own advantages and disadvantages. Software-based snipers are programs which are installed on your computer and require to have stable internet connection. The biggest disadvantage of this method is that your computer has to be working and online when auction is about to finish (if you have several auctions per day then your computer has to be working all the time). There is a myth that these kind of programs can store your password more secure, but online-servers are usually more protected from hackers then most people's home computers. Server-based (online) snipers are programs which are installed on the server. These servers are usually online 24/7 and have stable high-speed internet connection. The advantage of this method is that you can access your data and auctions from everywhere where you can get to internet (your friend's house, internet cafe etc) and manage your auction. That means that if you can get to eBay then you can get to Web-based sniper too. myibay.com is a Server-based sniper.
6. Q: Why snipe?
A: There are many legal and personal reasons to snipe. Here is a list of few of them:
- Rationality: Your bid is what you want it to be. You won't be involved into emotional bidding wars. Less dead-bidders for sellers after all.
- Privacy: Your bid is not visible until the end of auction so other people can't follow you on your active auctions.
- Time: You save your time by not watching auctions: you place your bid and get the result. You get extra time to spend for yourself, your family, your job, finding other items on eBay and more.
- Legality: You will avoid bid shilling, maximum bid probing, spying and many of other unwanted activities from other bidders and sellers.
- Stability: You can always cancel your bid anytime while auction is running.
7. Q: What is a "bidding war"?
A: "Bidding war" is that unwelcomed situation when you might end up with paying more for auction then it's really worth.
Imagine the following: you placed a bid on some item, there are few minutes left for the auction to go. Someone placed another bid which is just a little bit higher then yours so you think "another 25 cents won't hurt" and place another bid. The other bidder will put something higher or have a proxy bid placed originally so your bid is not the highest again and you place another one with "just few cents more".
Once all dust settled you might end up paying $5-$10-$50 more then you expected.
If you use bid sniper then you will not get involved into those bidding wars. You place your maximum bid and you will never pay more than your bid.
Most of the time you will pay less then your maximum bid because of eBay's proxy bidding system.
8. Q: What is a "proxy bidding"?
A: "Proxy Bidding" is a system which is used by eBay to place your bid.
Here is how it works:
- You place your maximum bid (manually or using sniper, it does not matter)
- If nobody else placed another bid then you get your item at starting price.
- If somebody else placed another bid which is lower then yours then you get your item at lower bid plus increment, but the total will not be higher then your bid.
This system allows you to get the item for the minimum price possible, while you are setting your maximum price using a sniper just to have a limit on your automatic bid.
9. Q: Will sniping guarantee winning?
A: No.
Sniping can not guarantee your winning. Sniping is just placing a bid. The highest bid can guarantee winning only.
Bid your maximum -- and you have more chances to win. eBay proxy bidding will take care that you pay minimum enough to win.
